UAE Golden Visa: options and requirements in 2026

The Golden Visa provides long-term residence in the UAE without an employer as sponsor. It does not grant citizenship or lifetime residence. Requirements and permit duration depend on the applicable category.

What the Golden Visa is — and is not

The Golden Visa is a long-term, self-sponsored residence permit. You do not need an employer as sponsor, you can stay outside the UAE for longer than six months without losing residency, and you can sponsor your spouse and children.

It is not citizenship and not a “lifetime” visa. The authorities have denied such claims. Some categories require an official recommendation or nomination. Paying for application assistance does not guarantee nomination or approval.

How to choose

The best route is usually the one you can document most clearly today. Delays mostly come from incomplete files: missing attestations, an unclear source of funds or salary structures based on variable pay.

This guide is general information, not legal, tax or immigration advice. Rules change; always check the current requirements for your situation.
